Everything about registering for a race, what you're paying for, and — if you organize events — how listing and payouts work.
MarathonTracks is where runners find and register for marathons, walkathons, and running events, and where event organizers list their races and sell tickets. We handle registration, payment collection, digital tickets with bib numbers, and check-in on race day, so organizers don't have to build any of that themselves.
No — you can search and browse every listed race without signing up. You'll only need an account when you're ready to register, so we can send your confirmation and tickets to the right place.
Browsing and searching are completely free. When you register for a paid race, a small booking fee is added on top of the ticket price — see Payments & fees below for exactly what that covers.
Find your race, choose a ticket type, and check out. You'll get an order confirmation immediately, and your digital ticket by email once payment is confirmed.
UPI, credit and debit cards, and net banking, through our payment partner. All payments are processed securely — we never see or store your card details.
Yes. If a race collects attendee details separately from the buyer's own details, you'll see fields for that during checkout — so you can register a friend or family member and still receive the confirmation yourself.
Contact the race organizer directly, or reach our support team — see the bottom of this page. Since attendee details often feed into bib numbers and race-day timing systems, corrections are handled manually rather than through self-service editing.
The number shown on a race page is always the organizer's own ticket price. A few small charges — for running the payment and using the platform — get added at checkout, the same way a booking fee works on most ticketing sites. The exact charges are broken down in full before you pay, and again in this table:
| Fee | What it means | Who pays it? |
|---|---|---|
| MarathonTracks Fee | MarathonTracks' own charge for providing the registration and ticketing platform. | Organizer or Buyer |
| Payment Gateway Fee | The cost our payment partner charges to process UPI, cards, or net banking. | Organizer or Buyer |
| Platform Fee | A charge that funds core platform features — search, listings, check-in tools, and support — added on top of the above. | Buyer |
| GST (on ticket price) | Goods & Services Tax on the ticket itself, only where the organizer's event is GST-registered. | Buyer |
| GST on commission | GST charged on the MarathonTracks Fee, Gateway Fee, and Platform Fee above — not on the ticket price itself. | Whoever bears that underlying fee |
| TDS | Tax Deducted at Source — a small percentage withheld from the organizer's payout, as required under Indian tax law for platforms like ours. | Organizer only |
They sound similar but pay for different things. The MarathonTracks Fee is what we charge for the ticketing platform itself — the same role a booking fee plays on any event site. The Gateway Fee isn't ours at all — it's what our payment partner charges to actually move the money via UPI, card, or net banking, and is the same regardless of which platform you registered through. The Platform Fee is a separate, buyer-side charge that supports the broader tools every organizer relies on — search visibility, the check-in app, and customer support — and unlike the other two, it's always paid by the buyer rather than something an organizer can shift.
The organizer sets this when they create each ticket type. Some organizers absorb these fees into their own ticket price so buyers see one clean number; others pass them on separately, in which case you'll see them itemized at checkout. Either way, the full breakdown is always shown before you pay — nothing is hidden after the fact.
Only if the organizer's event is GST-registered. Many individual and smaller organizers aren't required to charge GST at all, in which case you won't see it on your ticket. Where it does apply, it's calculated on the ticket price and shown as its own line at checkout.
Refund policies are set by each organizer, since they're the ones running the event. If a refund is approved, it's processed back to your original payment method, and your ticket is cancelled and can no longer be used for check-in. Contact the organizer first for any race-specific refund request.
By email, as soon as your payment is confirmed — usually within a minute or two. It includes a QR code used for check-in on race day, and your bib number if the race uses one.
The number you'll wear during the race, used for identification, timing, and results. Not every race uses bib numbers — it's up to the organizer — but where they're used, yours is assigned automatically and shown on your ticket.
Usually no — the QR code on your phone is enough for check-in. Some organizers ask for a printed copy as a backup, particularly for larger events; check your confirmation email or the race page for specifics.
Search your inbox for your order code, or contact our support team with the email or phone number you registered with and we'll help you recover it.
This depends on the individual organizer's policy — some allow it, some don't, since bib numbers and timing systems are often tied to the original registrant. Reach out to the organizer directly to ask.
Submit your event through our organizer signup, with your race details and organization information. Once reviewed, your race goes live and you can start creating ticket types.
Listing itself is free. We only charge the MarathonTracks Fee and Gateway Fee once you actually sell a ticket — see Payments & fees above — and you choose whether that comes out of your own price or is added on top for the buyer.
Yes, before you can receive payouts. We'll ask for identity and bank details appropriate to your organization type — an individual, a proprietorship, a registered trust, and so on — so we can pay you correctly and stay compliant with tax requirements.
Yes — the MarathonTracks Fee and Gateway Fee can each be set to be paid by you or added on for the buyer, per ticket type. The Platform Fee is always buyer-side and isn't adjustable, since it funds shared tools every organizer relies on.
From your organizer dashboard, at any time — pricing, quantity, sale dates, and fee settings can all be updated. Changes only affect sales made after the edit; anything already sold keeps the terms it was sold under.
On a standard schedule we apply across all verified organizers — typically weekly. You can see exactly when your next payout is due, and what it will total, from your organizer dashboard at any time.
In some cases, yes — reach out to our team if you need a different cadence than the standard schedule, and we can discuss whether an exception makes sense for your organization.
Tax Deducted at Source — Indian tax law requires e-commerce platforms like ours to withhold a small percentage of what we pay organizers and remit it to the government on your behalf, the same way it works with other online marketplaces. It's shown as its own line in your payout breakdown, never bundled invisibly into another fee.
Your organizer dashboard includes an itemized sales report — every order, with the ticket price, each fee, and your net amount, alongside trends over time. You can filter it by date or race and download it as a spreadsheet for your own records.
If you've arranged a service like this with us or one of our partners, any charge for it is itemized and shown clearly against your payout — the service name, a summary of what it covers, and who it was paid to — so it's always clear why a deduction appears alongside your ticket sales.
